General information
- The book can have multiples of the same theme (eg. 2 themes / pages for “Outings”, such as the Beach and the Park).
- The introductory theme – “Who am I” is highly recommended – as it sets an introduction for the book.
- Refer to the “Themes for Age Groups” to give you ideas on what to include for different age groups.
- Each theme represent a double page spread in the book, so 2 pages are dedicated to each theme.
- The theme called “Special People and Places” is designed to allow for lots of photos (up to 8) and no text. This helps to include people in the book who you would like feature in the book, but don’t necessary want to dedicate an entire “theme”. Example – perhaps you include grandparents and aunts/uncles on the Special People page, rather than have a dedicated page to each of these relatives.
- Miscellaneous Theme – this allows for you to determine the theme.
- Page Order – the pages of the book will be set in the order you choose them. You can move them up and down to change the order. Alternatively you can leave the page order for Tiny Tales to determine – click on the button to choose this option.
Photos & brief comments
- Attach up to 4 photos for each theme & add a little commentary
- Hints on photos:
- Photos taken up close will work the best in the book.
- Check the resolution of your photos, 300 dpi is what is recommended. If the resolution is lower than this, the pictures will not print clearly, they may appear pixellated and slightly grainy.
- It is a good idea to include photos with the child to whom the Tiny Tale is dedicated. For example, photos of your child with grandparents, photos with Mum & Dad, photos with a pet etc
- Number of photos – the number of photos is limited to 4 per theme (except for “Special People & Places” which is capped at 8). This limit is so that the book is kept simple and focused – ideal for children. You can have less than this number of photos if you like – it still works really well.
- Book Cover photos:
- Number of photos for covers: Front cover (1 photo), Inside cover (1 photo), Back cover (2 photos).
- These can be photos already used in the book, or they can be new photos.
- Hints on comments:
- Essential - Include names as your child refers to the people in the photos. Example – Mama & Papa, or Mummy and Daddy, or Grandma and Poppy, Uncle Jez, Aunty Maz.
- Not essential (but nice to have) - Add favourite things, things they enjoyed doing in the photo, anything that made the day memorable, funny events etc.
Example of comment for "Beach Outing" – enjoyed building sandcastles, digging big holes and surfing on his boogie board.
Example of comment for "Bathtime" – enjoys making cappuccinos with the bubbles for mum and playing car washes.
- Only a small amount of text is required. The text is not limited, but if you want to have more words, you will either need less photos or smaller size photos to allow room for the words.
- If you choose to write the exact words for the book - Tiny Tales are happy to write the story for you, alternatively you can choose to write the exact text. If you would like to do this, please be sure to click on the box “Use Exact Text”. If you also want to set titles for the pages, please put the page title first in inverted commas eg “Big Footy Final - 2009”
